Email Link Clicked

Lesson Video Time: 2:12 Minutes

An Email Link Clicked goal is achieved when a selected link in a previous sequence is clicked. This is useful for situations where you want to stop communications once a contact engages by clicking on a link, and start a different sequence of communications.

Link Clicked goals can be used to stop communications when someone responds. For example, if you’re sending a promotional sequence, you may want to stop that sequence if someone clicks. That way they don’t get bombarded with emails. Alternatively you might insert a link in such a sequence that says “Click here to stop hearing about this promotion”. By clicking that link, the Link Clicked goal is achieved and pulls them out of that sequence without forcing them to opt out completely in order to stop emails.

You may also use a Link Clicked goal to trigger the start of a sequence without forcing your contacts to opt in again. For example, you could send your existing contacts an email promotion for a webinar. Using a link clicked goal you could have them click to register. By clicking alone they can be pulled out of the promotional sequence and put into the registration sequence.

  1. Create a sequence with at least one email that contains at leads one link
  2. Drag an Email Link Clicked goal onto the canvas.  Connect the sequence to the goal with the goal on the right
  3. Double-click the goal to configure
  4. Select the link(s) to achieve the goal when clicked
  5. Click save and publish the campaign
